Valerie Bertinelli Says She Felt 'Insecure' Being Compared to Heather Locklear & Others
Guest co-host Valerie Bertinelli opens up about having been compared to other actresses early in her career. "Actresses at the time were me, Heather Locklear, MacKenzie Phillips, Kristy McNichol, all four totally different types, but yet we were always being compared, up for a lot of the same roles. It would make me insecure and I would think something was wrong with me because Heather got the role, or if Kristy got the role, and it's not that... we're just different types, and I wish I had that in my head...," Bertinelli shares and then jokes, "...now I'm in my thirtieth year in therapy." Bertinelli adds, "I was up for 'Mad About You' and Helen Hunt obviously got it. I can't imagine myself in that role. She was absolutely perfect for that role, so they did the right thing and didn't cast me."
