Sheryl Underwood remembers meeting Kobe Bryant over 20 years ago, when he first got into the league with the Lakers, at the famed restaurant Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in Hollywood. "Kobe walked in with a gentleman I knew and they asked could they sit with me because there were no seats. What I remember about this, even back then, Kobe had a plan for his future and we talked about his future and what he wanted to do." Underwood adds, "To be able to talk to the young Kobe and see what type of man he became, truly a great renaissance man, a great father, but now things are coming out that nobody knew that Kobe was doing - mentoring other athletes in different sports, talking to people, keeping them focused, giving them advice... You've got to remember and thank God for the time that we had with him and we have to cherish what he left us and become better people."
