Y&R: Sharon Gets Her Baby, But At What Cost?

Sharon accomplished her ultimate goal—motherhood—but she left a world of hurt and pain in her path. Take a look back at how Sharon became Sully's mom.

After Mariah presses Sharon to explain why she's so concerned for Nick to read Sage's diary, Sharon finally comes clean. 

"It's Sully," admits Sharon. "He's not our baby. He's not Dylan's and he's not mine... He's Nick and Sage's: he's Christian."

 

During a memorial service for Sage, Nick starts his speech asking guests to look towards the future and to fill their lives with love—but things quickly take a dark turn. After accusing his family of not being there for him, he alludes to his crumbling life.

"It's never going to be okay," he says with tears in his eyes.

Now that she knows the truth, Sage gets in her car and speeds back home to tell Nick their son is alive. But, on the way, she loses control of her car and gets in a terrible accident. What will happen with baby Christian?

 

Afraid of crushing Dylan's heart, Sharon pleads with Sage not to take Christian away from her. 

"You just want to keep things as they are?" Sage asks incredulously. "You and Dylan raise my son, and Nick and I have visitation? Because I'll tell you what, there's only one thing that's gonna happen today, and that's me taking that kid home to his real father."

After spending more time with baby Sully and listening to Sharon's concerns, Sage is motivated to research the past. When will she uncover the truth? And how will everyone react to the shocking news?

Sharon tries to piece together what happened in the months prior: her undocumented birth, the strange nanny at the hospital, and the murder of her twisted doctor. 

"There's this hole in my heart that I thought was finally healing, getting better," Sage says of the failed adoption. "I don't know if it's ever going to get better."

Before Dylan heads out to the coffee shop, he tries to convince Sharon to get some sleep. But, Sharon remains skeptical, telling her husband that she's scared of what she'll remember of her "birth."

Dylan questions Sharon about giving birth, wondering why there was no documentation. "Do you remember anything right before holding Sully?" he asks gently.

"I don't remember going into labor," she nervously admits. "There was someone else there... watching us."

After learning that Dr. Anderson is actually Sandra Allen, a scorned high school classmate who was injured on the Newman property many years ago, Nick and Sharon head to Fairview to confront her. But, when they arrive at her office, they find her sprawled out on the floor with a stab wound in the back.

Although Sharon has her worries about Sage, she couldn't help but feel sorry for the grieving, childless mother. With a smile on her face, Sharon hands her child over to Sage at the christening. As everyone cautiously looks on, Sage cradles the child she has no idea is actually hers.

Sharon introduces her new bundle of joy to Mariah, who fawns over the baby boy. "He's so little," she exclaims.

Sharon finally embraced her baby after suffering a miscarriage, entering facility care, and fighting with her doctor. But does she know the truth?

 

Dr. Anderson told a sleeping Sharon, “Don’t worry. You haven’t lost your baby.” Later, she presented her patient with a baby boy.  

Sharon tried to resist her doctor's medications, but soon gave in after Dr. Anderson insisted it was essential to her recovery.

Sharon's doctor repeatedly pushed more rest and medicine, and even convinced her patient to forgo family visits.

Patty Williams took an interest in Sharon, repeatedly checking in on her health and asking about her pregnancy.

Sharon's recovery didn't go as she had planned, as she was often feeling tired and disoriented, much to Dylan's surprise. Sharon was also still pretending she was pregnant.

Sharon checked herself into a facility center to deal with her disorder, leaving Faith in Nick and Dylan's care.

After Sharon lost her baby, her daughter begged her to tell Dylan the truth. But Sharon was adamant she could get pregnant again, and quickly.

Dylan was concerned about Sharon's bipolar disorder, but he was determined to stick by his pregnant fiance.

After much heartache, Dylan found love again with Sharon.
