Costume designer Elif Inanc opened up about all things "the dress" in an exclusive interview with CBS.com. Click through to learn about everything from her inspiration to the tiniest details.

"I knew I wanted two looks for Abby's wedding—a ceremony dress and a dress for the reception—but in the end, I decided on one dress that can have two looks with a removable skirt," Inanc said. "I wanted her dress to be Audrey Hepburn, Dior classic, with a modern edge, and Kay Wataguchi, our amazing seamstress made this happen."

"My favorite detail is the fabric we used," Inanc said. "I went to New York City to get the chantilly lace, and the silk tulle came from England, which made all the difference in the overall look of the dress."

"The dress is two dresses in one," Inanc said. "In one moment it's elegant and sophisticated, and the next it's short and sassy."

"I had a lot of fun dressing Melissa because she is open to wearing anything," Inanc said. "And, the fact that she wears clothes so well doesn't hurt either."

"There are no rules in fashion, but if I had to choose one I would say be you and understand your body and what looks good on you," Inanc said.
