Melissa Ordway, Sean Carrigan Discuss Y&R Wedding

How are weddings different from typical episodes you film on set?

How are weddings different from typical episodes you film on set?

Melissa Ordway: "It's fun because most episodes we don't get to work with most of the cast ... so it's so fun to be with everyone on all these scenes together."

Sean Carrigan: "It was a little nerve-racking ... I had people come up to me—especially some of the veterans who have been on the show for a long time, like Beth Maitland, Peter Bergman—and they said, 'This is your first TV wedding,' and then I thought about it and was like, 'This is kind of a big deal!' You know, you look back at the wedding guests, and you see some of these legends of daytime television who are in the audience, and it was very overwhelming ... It was an incredible experience, to say the least."

How did you react to the dress the first time you saw it?

Melissa Ordway: "I was blown away by the dress ... It was everything I think Abby's dress should be. It was elegant for the wedding, but more playful and party-ish for the reception. I want to find other places to wear it, because it's so perfect!"
What are your tips for surviving long hours on set?

What are your tips for surviving long hours on set?

Melissa Ordway: "Lots of snacks! I brought a ton of almonds and a lot of water. I tried to get them to put me in shoes that are comfortable—they have to look good, but that have to be comfortable. Also, my cell phone."

Sean Carrigan: "I find that when it's a huge cast event like that—it's not often that you get to work with a huge cast because usually the scenes are just a few people—so, there's a certain energy and excitement that you're not used to feeling that keeps you up. It keeps your energy up. It's exciting and sometimes during the scenes, we usually have a stage manager that has to tell everyone to be quiet because everyone gets excited ... It's just like a party."

What if Abby had all of the say in planning her wedding?

Melissa Ordway: "It would be a lot like how the wedding turned out—a lot of sparkle, lots of bling, just elegant ... The set designers did such a good job. [They] decorated for Christmas just days before, so to see it decorated for the wedding, it was stunning."
Do you think Abby can move past Stitch's indiscretion with Ashley?

Do you think Abby can move past Stitch's indiscretion with Ashley?

Melissa Ordway: "I think that she will, and I think that Abby wants to believe that Stitch loves her just as much as she loves him. She wants the wedding of the century, she wants it to work, and she wants to be Mrs. Rayburn."
Do you think Stitch will finally find happiness?

Do you think Stitch will finally find happiness?

Sean Carrigan: "I'll say this: Let's hope for a period he finds some happiness—for a short while. But, you know, I don't want him to find too much happiness, because it's always fun to have conflict and drama."
What was it like saying your

What was it like saying your "I do's" on set?

Melissa Ordway: "It [felt] like a real wedding. I felt like a real bride!"

Sean Carrigan: "You know, it was weird. It was almost like I got actual wedding nerves. And, then, I have to say my vows in front of everybody. I'm standing in front of some daytime icons, and they're watching me say my vows, and it was weird. It was almost like I was actually getting married. Look, I'm on the No. 1 daytime TV show, The Young and the Restless, and it's been No. 1 for years and years. You know, the weddings that have happened there have been these monumental weddings, and to share in that experience—not everyone in their life can say they went through that. And, I married a Newman! I married someone who's half-Abbott, half-Newman!"
