Biography
Edie Falco is perhaps best known to television audiences for her role as Carmela Soprano in the groundbreaking series The Sopranos. Nominated for a record 22 SAG Awards, Falco is the only actress to win the Emmy Award in both the drama and comedy categories for her performances in The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie. Additionally, Falco became the only actress to receive the Emmy, the Golden Globe, and the SAG Award in the same year for the same performance, as Carmela Soprano.

Falco's additional television credits include Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, for which she received an Emmy nomination. On the big screen, Falco received acclaim for her work in A Land of Steady Habits, opposite Ben Mendelsohn, and the independent film Outside In. Coming up, Falco will star in James Cameron's Avatar sequels.

Onstage, Falco made her Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning play Sideman. She starred in the acclaimed revival of Frankie and Johnny in the Claire De Lune and was a Tony Award nominee for her performance opposite Ben Stiller in The House of Blue Leaves. Most recently, Falco headlined the off-Broadway production of The New Group's critically acclaimed show The True.

A native New Yorker, Falco was born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. She is an ambassador for animal rights and works in tandem with PETA, ASPCA, and the North Shore Animal League. She is a practicing Buddhist, and in her spare time, she enjoys crafting and sewing. She lives in New York City. Her birthday is July 5.
