Michael Chernus
Biography
Michael Chernus is perhaps best known for his roles in the television series Orange is the New Black and Patriot, and in the feature film Spider-Man: Homecoming.

His additional film credits include Men in Black 3, Captain Phillips, The Bourne Legacy, Mistress America, and The Kindergarten Teacher, opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal. On television, Chernus appeared in Manhattan and Easy and had guest roles on The Good Wife and Elementary. Occasionally, Chernus lends his voice to the podcasts This American Life and RadioLab.

Chernus is an OBIE Award recipient and a Lucille Lortel Award nominee for his work in the play In The Wake at the Public Theatre. In 1995 Chernus attended the Julliard School's Drama Division and has since originated roles in theater communities regionally and off-Broadway for playwrights including by Adam Rapp, Annie Baker, Noah Haidle, Jessica Goldberg, Bess Wohl, and Lisa Kron, among others.

Born and raised in Rocky River, OH, Chernus is an avid Cavaliers fan. When he's not watching basketball, Chernus enjoys collecting rare, vintage vinyl records and seeing live music and theater. His love for music stemmed from his time as a bass player in the band Less. The band self-produced two albums and toured as an opener in Europe with the American rock band My Morning Jacket.

Currently, Chernus is involved with Arts in the Armed Forces and serves on the advisory board of SPACE on Ryder Farm, an artists residency program and working organic farm in Brewster, NY, founded by his wife, Emily. Chernus and his wife split their time between their upstate home in North Salem, NY, and their apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
