Back in 2014 when the blood sugar-lowering medication—Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets—was approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes it was huge news, and we've all probably seen the commercials attesting to that. More recently in 2019, the drug's marketers Boehringer Ingelheim and Eli Lilly made a big announcement that may even top the original.

Extensive clinical trial results showed that JARDIANCE, as compared to a placebo, dramatically reduced of the incidence of nonfatal heart attacks and strokes among type 2 diabetics with established heart disease. As a result, the FDA has approved JARDIANCE for use in combatting heart disease in type 2 diabetics who are afflicted—making it the only oral diabetes drug on the market to have earned such a distinction.

Talk to your doctor about all of your symptoms to see if JARDIANCE is right for you. For product information, prescribing information, medication guide, and possible side effects, visit jardiance.com.
