Foundation Medicine, whose products and services help patients and doctors collaborate on targeted cancer treatment plans, has recently announced the launch of their Start with Step One campaign. Grounded in extensive research and designed to help patients and their healthcare providers understand the importance of comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP), the campaign's ultimate goal is to help oncologists develop a tailored treatment approach based on each individual patient's genomic profile. GCP can, with a single sample, evaluate hundreds of potential tumor mutations.

"Over the past 10 years, the late-stage oncology therapy pipeline has increased by 77% due to the increasing number of targeted therapies in development," writes Foundation Medicine's CEO Cindy Perettie on the company's website. But it's genomic testing, she says, that will help oncologists determine if a person is eligible for one of the related trials or treatments. "I'm extremely proud of the work our teams have done to ensure that [Start With Step One] is more than just a catchy slogan," she says. To learn more, visit foundationmedicine.com.
