Adding to their portfolio of nearly 550 generic medicines—the largest portfolio of FDA-approved generics on the market—Teva Pharmaceuticals has just announced the launch of its 250 and 500 mg generic Erythromycin tablets, a therapeutic equivalent to Arbor Pharmaceuticals' original Erythromycin tablets.

Intended to treat a variety of bacterial infections—from respiratory tract infections, skin infections, listeriosis, diphtheria, whooping cough, pneumonia of infancy, and intestinal amebiasis; to Legionnaires' Disease, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, several urogenital infections, primary syphilis, and more—Teva Pharmaceuticals' generic Erythromycin is also indicated, in patients allergic to penicillin, for the prevention of initial or recurrent attacks of rheumatic fever. One in every 11 generic prescriptions currently filled in the U.S. is filled with a Teva Pharmaceuticals product; and the company has roughly 100 new generics in the pipeline. Erythromycin's U.S. annual sales, as of January 2021, were more than 49 million. tevapharm.com
