What world leader do you admire?
The Dalai Lama; Bill and Melinda Gates.
How would you change the world?
Less prejudice and more support for the environment.
What have you learned about power?
After 40 days without electricity, I realize I like electrical
power... But on a more serious note, I learned that different people react
in different ways to power. It's not always predictable who will react in
what way. Age doesn't seem to matter as much as personality. It was interesting
to see not only how people reacted when they had power but also how they reacted
to others when others had power.
Is power a good thing?
Yes, in the hands of the right person...
What makes a good leader?
Ethics, compassion, unselfishness, intelligence, energy.
Who have been some of the best U.S. presidents, and why?
Theodore Roosevelt - established National Parks; Thomas
Jefferson - a "Renaissance man" who loved to read on many subjects
and intelligent.
Who have been some of the worst U.S. presidents, and why?
Our current president, George W Bush, because he has
done more to damage relations with other countries than any other president;
Richard Nixon because he damaged our trust and faith in our government and
leaders.
When you become an adult, what do you think will be the biggest problem facing our nation and/or world?
Environmental damage and our country's poor relations
with other countries.
If you had the power to change one or two things about our country right now, what would it be?
I would change our president and his cabinet as well
as our foreign policy.
If you could put into place one law that pertains to kids in our country, what would it be?
Universal health care for all kids.
Why are some people rich and others poor?
Sometimes it seems like luck of the draw - what country
you are born in, what family you are born into...
Do you believe global warming is a fact or a myth? If you think it is a fact, what would you do about it if you were in charge?
I believe global warming is a fact. I would more strongly
support research and actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and have the
US become a signatory nation of the Kyoto Protocol.
Do you belong to any organizations or clubs?
Student government, Knowledge Bowl, soccer, Greenpeace,
Save Darfur.
If you could switch places with one person, who would it be and why?
Thierry Henry (professional soccer player) or
Stephen Colbert.
