Robert Carlyle stars in this four-hour, fact-based mini-series that explores Adolf Hitler's rise to power during the years prior to World War II and focuses closely on how the embittered, politically fragmented and economically buffeted German society after World War I made that ascent possible. The mini-series will also illustrate how Hitler's hatred of the Jews became central to his political mission in Germany and found a broad resonance among the German public.
To develop the mini-series, Alliance Atlantis, the producer and worldwide distributor, completed an extensive research and study program drawing on major biographies, periodicals, documentaries, archival information and journalistic or historic accounts. Producers also consulted with some of the most respected historians and educators on the subject including Cornelius Schnauber, Director, Max Kade Institute for Austrian-German-Swiss Studies, University of Southern California and Charles S. Maier, Leverett Saltonstall Professor of History at Harvard.
