Heather's Final Words
Heather has been around music all her life. As a child, she would take catnaps in her father's guitar case on the commune where they lived. The oldest of three siblings, Heather attended Catholic School. At age 13, she ran away from home and lived in a Buddhist community for two months. She eventually received her high school degree through an independent study program when she was 15 years old. At age 17, Heather moved to Ohio for one year before returning to Atlanta to pursue her music.
Heather has performed with Ryan Adams, Elton John, Angie Aparo and Alana Davis. She performed background vocals that were eventually bought and used for an Outkast album, and was offered a record contract with Melisma Records.
Her favorite rocker is Johnette from Concrete Blonde and her favorite artist is Susan Tedeschi. The two performers who most remind her of herself are Bonnie Raitt and Aretha Franklin. She admires Ani DiFranco and her favorite CDs are Still in Hollywood by Concrete Blonde and Just Won't Burn by Susan Tedeschi. In addition, she enjoys anything by Otis Redding, The Beatles and Ray LaMontagne. Heather plays the guitar, piano and hand drums, and she is currently learning the violin. She has 24 tattoos, enjoys studying insects, painting, working on her car, reading and playing with her dog.
