ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The following eligibility requirements must be met in order for a person to be considered as a possible STAR SEARCH Performer.

Each episode of STAR SEARCH will feature three performance categories. STAR SEARCH is now accepting applications for the following performance categories:

a) Adult Singer (15 & up)
b) Junior Singer (8 to 14)
c) Young Dancer (14 to 30)

1. There are different eligibility requirements for each of the performance categories:
  1. Adult Singer - Applicants must be 15 years of age or older. They should not currently be a party to a recording contract, either alone or as a member of a group. Applicants may have appeared on television in amateur or semi-amateur showcases or talent discovery competitions ("Talent Programs"); however, Applicants should not have made any prior prime time national network television solo singing appearances of more than thirty (30) seconds in length on any programming other than Talent Programs.
  2. Junior Singer - Applicants must be from the age 8 to 14. They should not currently be a party to a recording contract, either alone or as a member of a group. Applicants may have appeared on television in amateur or semi-amateur showcases or talent discovery competitions ("Talent Programs"); however, Applicants should not have made any prior prime time national network television solo singing appearances of more than thirty (30) seconds in length on any programming other than Talent Programs.
  3. Young Dancer - Applicants may consist of individuals or a group of up to four (4) people, and all must be between the ages of 14 to 30. Applicants should not have had any prime time national network television appearances as featured dancers of more than thirty (30) seconds in length.
2. There are different submission requirements for each performance category:
  1. Adult Singer - Applicants must complete the online PERFORMER APPLICATION and submit it with: (1) a VHS tape recording or CD recording of at LEAST two (2) cover songs (no original songs accepted) , (2) a list of up to eight (8) possible songs (including the title of the song and the name of the artist) you would perform if chosen to appear on STAR SEARCH and (3) if possible, a headshot or photograph of the Applicant with his/her first and last name written on the back of the photograph.
  2. Junior Singer - Applicants must complete the online PERFORMER APPLICATION and submit it with: (1) a VHS tape recording or CD recording of at LEAST two (2) cover songs (no original songs accepted), (2) a list of up to eight (8) possible songs (including the title of the song and the name of the artist) you would perform if chosen to appear on STAR SEARCH and (3) if possible, a headshot or photograph of the Applicant with his/her first and last name written on the back of the photograph.
  3. Young Dancer - Applicants must complete the online PERFORMER APPLICATION and submit it with: (1) a VHS tape, DVD or mini DV of the Applicant(s) performing at least two (2) dance routines (dance routines should be up to one a half (1 ½) minutes in length), (2) if possible, a headshot or photograph of the Applicant(s) with Applicant(s) first and last name(s) written on the back of the photograph(s) and (3) a CD recording of the music (no audiotapes accepted) with a title of the song and the name of the artist.

Please note: unfortunately, due to the volume of submissions, we will be unable to confirm that we have received an Applicant's application materials. All application materials will become the property of STAR SEARCH and CBS Productions and will not be returned. Applicants will be contacted only if STAR SEARCH is considering the Applicant as a potential Performer. Please do not call CBS Broadcasting Inc. and/ or Rysher Entertainment to check on an Applicant's status.

3. Applicants need not be a member of any union such as AFTRA, SAG, Actors Equity, or AGMA. Members, as well as non-members, of such unions are welcome to apply.

4. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

5. Applicants must not be candidates for public office at the time of application, and if an Applicant is selected as a Performer, that Applicant must agree not to become a candidate for public office until after the initial broadcast of all programs in which that Applicant may appear.

6. By applying to be a Performer in STAR SEARCH, Applicants authorize the Producers to conduct investigations into the Applicant's background, which may include review of civil and criminal records, financial, credit and employment history, and any other type of background checks deemed necessary by the Producers.

7. Employees, officers, directors and agents of CBS Broadcasting Inc., 2929 Entertainment and Rysher Entertainment, and/or of any of their respective licensees, assigns, parents, affiliated and subsidiary companies and the immediate family (spouse or spousal equivalent, mother, father, sister, brother, daughter or son, regardless of where they live) or members of their same households (whether related or not) of such employees, officers, directors and agents are not eligible to compete on STAR SEARCH or participate in the application process.

The Producers reserve the right to change any of the eligibility requirements at any time. The Producers also reserve the right to not hold any interviews, or to modify the manner in which it conducts Applicant interviews, or to not produce the program STAR SEARCH at all.
