DETOUR
Artistic Expression: In Artistic Expression, Teams needed to travel one third of a mile on foot to Dewan Lama. Once there, they had to use an ancient technique known as batik to exactly duplicate one of three patterns onto and then dye a 45 square-foot piece of cloth. The task required the careful application of an artistic skill, but Teams with an eye for detail could find them selves jumping ahead. Dustin & Kandice, Charla & Mirna and Oswald & Danny showed their creative side by taking on this Detour.
Cookie Confection: In Cookie Confection, Teams made their way on foot half a mile to Chow Kit Bomba and search through 600 boxes of traditional Malaysian special cookies and find the one that had a black licorice center. The task required no skill, but Teams with a sweet tooth and a bit of luck could finish quickly. Eric & Danielle exercised their sweet tooth and overcame this Detour.

ROADBLOCK
In this Roadblock, one Team member had to give a nod to Malaysia's eco-friendly practice of recycling. Team members chose a bicycle with a side cart attached and scoured the neighborhood for residents willing to sell them their used newspapers. Once they had collected enough newspapers to make an eight-hands high stack, they would receive their next clue. The environmentally friendly Kandice, Mirna, Danielle and Danny performed this Roadblock. |

This was the first of two Yields in the race allowing one Team to stop another Team from racing. Beauty queens Dustin & Kandice yielded Eric & Danielle. |
