LEG 12
In this Detour, Teams had to choose between Basket Boats or Basket Bikes. For Basket Boats, each Team member had to get across the river in a traditional basket boat to the route marker on the other side. In Basket Bikes, each Team member selected a bicycle laden with dozens of locally made shrimp baskets and travel one mile down the street to the next route marker.
LEG 13
In this Detour, Teams had to choose between Quick Drop and Slow Walk. In Quick Drop, Teams took a 160-foot tandem drop to the Wailua Falls below. After the drop, they had to swim to shore and follow the flags to the clue waiting behind the falls. While the drop could be frightening, this choice would save time. Teams choosing Slow Walk would have to walk a marked trail down to the falls and follow the flags to the clue. This option wouldn't be frightening, but would take considerably longer.
