THE HOUSEGUESTS DO SOME HOUSEWARMING
Seeing each other for the first time, eight new HouseGuests meet in front of the BIG BROTHER House, where they will spend up to 12 weeks living together and competing against each other for half a million dollars. Host Julie Chen welcomes them to the game, and sends the first three HouseGuests into the House with instructions: they must each choose one of the three bedrooms--they cannot choose the same room. Scott, David and Nathan enter first. Next in are Erika, Alison and Jun. Jun, the investment manager from New York, immediately realizes that the room she will be sharing with Nathan is furnished with only two double beds. She chooses the bed he is not sitting on, but later remarks she had wanted to "share a bed with him because he's so cute." Last to enter are Dana and Jack. In the end, Scott and Alison are sharing the Circle Room, which has three beds, but NO privacy; David, Erika and Dana are in the Desert Room, where they each have a bed, but the burlap covering is less than luxurious; and Nathan, Jun and Dana are in the Love Room, which got its name because it contains two double beds.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Finally settled in the BIG BROTHER House, the HouseGuests get a chance to look around and meet their new housemates. Gathering in the Living Room for the first time, the HouseGuests voice their approval of the new funky/retro décor of the House. But will they approve of each other? There are introductions all round, as they size each other up and check each other out. Alison, the 22-year-old retail manager from Pittsburgh, takes an instant liking to Nathan, the 23-year-old personal trainer straight from Edmond, Oklahoma, saying "I really liked Nathan…from the get-go." Dana, the 28-year-old karate school manager from Queens, apparently has similar taste in men, saying Nathan is "the hottest thing on the planet."
But not everyone is so affable. Jun shares some words about Erika, the 33-year-old, hard-bodied Pilates instructor from Los Angeles, commenting on her "enhanced boobilage" and saying the 33-year-old is "on her way down." David, the 21-year-old former Army Ranger from Florida, says that Dana was "definitely bitchy," and Jun fears that Jack, the 58-year-old retired FBI Agent from Alabama, "may be dangerous a little bit later." Already eyeing the competition, Erika states that she and Scott, the 33-year-old bartender from Chicago, are "both very strong competitors."
FOOD COMPETITION: THE X FACTOR
The eight HouseGuests head to the backyard for their first Food Competition, where they discover a giant "X" made of two beams. The two beams are separated and lowered horizontally to the ground. The HouseGuests split into two groups of four and step onto the two separate beams. With four people on each beam, Julie asks each HouseGuest a true/false question about his/her new roommates. If the question is answered correctly, the beam stays in position, but if the answer is incorrect, both beams are raised one foot into the air. Three or more people fall off the beams, and it's nothing but peanut butter and jelly for the rest of the week.
