What world leader do you admire?
I'd have to say JFK (John F. Kennedy) because he did so much for this country, and in the end, his administration saw the beginning of new hope for both the equal rights of Americans and the peace of the world. I admire his wisdom and devotion to our country, especially since he was so young, and didn't let anything get in the way of what was right.
How would you change the world?
I can totally relate to John Lennon's song, 'Imagine' because the lyrics refer to how the world would be if we all lived in peace, and it just inspires me to want that to happen. I certainly think I can make a difference by participating in my world. By this I mean being active, caring, staying current on world events, and voting, and encouraging my friends to do the same, since we are the future. And this is our world.
How would you change your neighborhood?
I would change my neighborhood by making a petition to add more speed bumps, because I think that generally people drive to fast and should be more careful, especially in a neighborhood like mine in which a lot of young kids live. I live near an elementary school, so kids are always playing outside their houses and putting more speed bumps on the corners, or intersections would make a huge difference and make everything safer.
What have you learned about power?
I've learned that power is a very interesting thing, containing both good and evil. Power can change someone and sometimes bring out who they really are, and sometimes that can be a bad thing. I also know that power is sometimes more desired and wanted than even money.
Is power a good thing?
Power is almost like a spell that people get under, and I don't believe that all power should be given to one person because usually people who have power use it in a bad way, or take advantage of it. It brings out the worst in people. That is why power should be distributed to more than one person.
What makes a good leader?
A good leader is someone who doesn't make any decisions without talking about them to the people of wherever they're leading, whether it be a country, or even just a business, asking for suggestions is always good. Also a good leader treats everyone equally, no one is higher or lower than anyone else, they're all together.
Who have been some of the best U.S. presidents, and why?
I think some of the best presidents have been Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Franklin D. Roosevelt because these are 3 of the many presidents that really cared about and secured our country and always made the better decisions for it.
Who have been some of the worst U.S. presidents, and why?
From what I've learned, some of the not-so-good presidents have been Warren G. Harding and Ulysses S. Grant because they, on the other hand, weren't always choosing what was best for this country, and made some poor decisions.
When you become an adult, what do you think will be the biggest problem facing our nation and/or world?
I think the biggest problems the world will be facing when I am an adult are mostly oil loss, and global warming.
If you had the power to change one or two things about our country right now, what would it be?
First of all, I would like to pull the soldiers out of war, and I'd provide better living conditions for those in need, including food, water, clothing, and shelter.
If you could put into place one law that pertains to kids in our country, what would it be?
I would change the driving age, as much as I would LOVE to drive at 15, and get my license at 16Ö I just think that some kids don't have enough experience on the road to be driving around everyday.
Why are some people rich and others poor?
Everyone has choices in their lives and the decisions they make affect how rich and poor they are. I truly believe that education is the most important asset that a person can have to better themselves and have financial security. With an education you can go anywhere in the world. Becoming rich has a lot to do with hard work, and good decisions about saving money and of course investing. Then, there are those people that are just born into rich families. Of course they get a head start in life.
Do you believe global warming is a fact or a myth? If you think it is a fact, what would you do about it if you were in charge?
I think global warming is a fact because of all the changes in our weather patterns and all the different things that we are seeing nature do. It's almost like nature wants to warn us to be more caring for the environment. If I was in charge, I would definitely make more changes in laws for people to take responsibility for our Earth. I definitely think our society has too much waste and we need to learn how to conserve and recycle.
If you were in charge of immigration, would everyone be allowed to enter the country? Would illegal immigrants be allowed to stay?
Immigration is a hard issue, but for me it is personal. My families, like many others, are immigrants in this country, if you think about it, this country is made up of immigrants. If I was in charge, I would pass laws that would invite immigrants to apply to come to this country and I would set up jobs for them to have when they came here. They would have a background check to make sure they had good intentions and I would allow them to stay for one year. Then they would have to apply to stay longer. The illegal immigrants that are here now would be allowed to stay after a review of what they've done so far in this country and if they have been good, hard working citizens. The first people I would send away are those that have broken the law.
If you were in charge of education, would art class be as important as math?
Art class is very important because it allows students to express themselves and be creative. It is a good outlet for emotions. I do think it should be mandatory and students can have choices of which art they would like to take. It could be painting, sketching, carving, sculpting, etc. I think it would help students make decisions of where they want to go in life.
Do you belong to any organizations or clubs?
South Florida writers, and the junior orange bowl committee.
If you could switch places with one person, who would it be and why?
I would switch places with Nicole Hilton, because she is more sophisticated and not so into the whole Hollywood dramatic, paparazzi scene; she's also more responsible with herself and her fashion line and she's pretty and has really good clothes (:
