 Spencer Day & Liz Byler
The first Adult Singer tonight was Spencer Day, who sang "Turn Me On" while accompanying himself on the piano. Lance Bass gave Spencer 4 stars, saying, "Range is incredible. You connected with the audience. Great performance." "I love the range," agreed Naomi Judd, who gave him 3 stars. Ben Stein also gave Spencer 3 stars, explaining, "I thought he tried to reach a little farther than he really could go. A man's reach should exceed his grasp, but a little too much this time." "I have a soft spot for piano guys," admitted Carol Leifer, giving Spencer 4 stars.
Liz Byler, the second Adult Singer, performed "Where Does my Heart Beat Now?" "You've got the look, definitely the talent," commented Lance Bass, who gave her 4 stars. Naomi Judd also gave Liz 4 stars, telling her, "love it, see you in Nashville." "I felt it from my big brain down to my big toe," agreed Ben Stein, also giving her 4 stars. Carol Leifer gave Liz 3 stars, explaining, "You had a great, big, belty voice. I just wanted to hear a little more range."
The judges favored Liz over Spencer by only one point. The home audience reversed the judges' scores, bringing Spencer Day's total up to 30 points and giving him the chance to return for tomorrow night's Semifinals. |
