Jake Simpson, Rebecca Valadez & Kristen McNamara
Jake Simpson performed first in tonight's Adult Singer Semi-Finals, doing his rendition of "What's Goin' On?" When he finished, Jake received an enthusiastic 5 stars from all the judges, without further comment.
Second up in tonight's Semi-Finals was Rebecca Valadez, who sang "Midnight Train to Georgia." Time was running short, so the judges again gave their scores without much comment: Kelly Rowland, Ben Stein and Carol Leifer gave Rebecca 4 stars, while Naomi Judd gave her 5 stars. Kelly Rowland did have the chance to say, "Great voice, incredible."
The third Adult Singer tonight was Kristen McNamara, who performed "Cry." This time, the judges managed to provide brief comments along with their scores. Kelly Rowland gave Kristen 4 stars for her "beautiful, strong voice." "To everything there is a season. I don't think tonight's your night," Naomi Judd told Kristen as she gave her 3 stars. Ben Stein gave Kristen 4 stars, adding, "I love her tonight. I love her!" "I love your voice too. Really magnificent," agreed Carol Leifer, giving Kristen another 4 stars.
With a perfect 20 stars, Jake was in the lead after the judges scored the singers, and although Jake tied with Rebecca in the web scoring, the combined totals upheld the judges' decision. Jake Simpson scored 35 stars and won the Adult Singer Semi-Finals. Jake will join Spencer Day in the Finals next Thursday, February 6 at 8pm ET/PT.
