 Jon Reep & Ben Bailey
Jon Reep, up first in the Comedian category tonight, joked about his own tiny mouth and white skin. Remarking that he "warmed up near the end," Carol Leifer gave Jon 3 stars. Aaron Carter gave him 4 stars, telling him, "I thought you did great. You're very funny!" "You remind me of all the characters where I live back home," Naomi Judd remarked, giving Jon 3 stars. Ben Stein also gave Jon 3 stars, advising, "Do the drug jokes first."
Ben Bailey, up second in the Comedy category, did a routine focusing on job interviews. Carol Leifer told Ben, "You have a great presence, and your material is really funny," and gave him 4 stars. Nick Carter gave Ben 5 stars, saying, "You were extremely comfortable. Don't take this the wrong way, but you just look funny!" Naomi Judd had a very different opinion, giving Ben 1 star and explaining, "Laughter is like eternal jogging, and I didn't get much of a workout." Ben Stein agreed with Naomi, giving Ben 2 stars and adding, "very funny presence. But the material? Drop it on Saddam Hussein; it's a bomb."
After the judges weighed in, Jon was ahead of Ben by 1 star, but the home audience overturned that decision, picking Ben over Jon 11-16. With 28 stars, Ben Bailey won the Comedian category tonight and will return next Thursday night for the Semi-Finals. |
