SURVIVOR Host: There are tons of great questions, so let's get started! If you're just joining us, we're chatting with SURVIVOR runner-up Kim Johnson. To ask Kim a question, please type it in the space below and click "Ask the Survivor." We'll get to as many of your questions as we can. Let's get started!
Hi, Kim! Welcome to the Chat!
Kim Johnson: Hi,everyone!
sierra: Hello, Kim. You were so great on SURVIVOR. What made you apply to be on the show in the first place?
Kim Johnson: I love to play games; I love to compete; I love camping, and the concept of doing all three with maybe a shot at some beaucoup bucks appealed to me. I actually applied to SURVIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK.
Gatorboy: How did CBS get everyone to look identical months after the show?
Kim Johnson: The guys had to grow back their beards. They were hoping that we'd look similar; they didn't want us to do anything radically different to our hair. They could never have us as thin as we were, and they created tans with makeup on a lot of the people. For me, I had zero makeup on, and I just had tan. It was funny, people thought I had makeup on, but I was the only one with none.
mommy2: Congrats on making it to 2nd place! How hard was it to wait to find out if you were the winner or not?
Kim Johnson: It wasn't hard at all. There was never any doubt in my mind that Ethan would win. It was hard not to tell my family that I'd finished in second place, but knowing if I'd won or not was never an issue for me.
KimjBiggestFan: Who got on your nerves the most?
Kim Johnson: [laughs] Big Tom: his jokes just got old.
spleeny: Kim, what did you think of Kelly's speech?
Kim Johnson: I think for an actress wannabe, it was her choice to do that. She'll never bee a Susan Hawk or a Susan Lucci, but she gave it her best shot.
stellar: Congratulations, Kim!! The dangerous wildlife you and the others were exposed to in Africa could easily put you and/or the others in a life-and-death situation. Because of this, were professional hunters/sharpshooters there to provide protection in the event a Survivor had a face-to-face confrontation with a man-eater?
