Survivor Host: There are lots of great questions, so let's begin!! If you're just joining us, we're chatting live with Vecepia Towery. To ask Vecepia a question, please type it in the space below and click "Ask the Survivor." We'll get to as many of your questions as we can. Let's get started!!!
Hi Vecepia! Congratulations and thanks for being here to chat with us today.
Vecepia Towery: Hello guys, I hope everything is going well. I'm so excited to be here, thanks a lot!
tiara33: Out of the outwit, outlast, outplay which did you rely the most on? And which do you think helped you win?
Vecepia Towery: That's a very interesting question. I think I would probably say Outwit. Everyone looked at me as a silent threat and didn't see me as a big challenger, so a lot of the things I chose to do were decisive and I continued to slide under the radar as well as put other tribemates into a vulnerable position. It was a lot of fun.
MSVIKKIE: hi Vee, I just want to say i am so happy for you. I think you played the game very well and I knew in my heart you would win. I don't care what anyone says, girl you deserve to win. I just want to ask you: what was the reason for voting against Rob?
Vecepia Towery: First of all, thank you for your words and support. It really means a lot. The real reason I voted for Boston Rob is that that split of myself, Sean and Rob over to Rotu I had mentioned to Sean that we knew we were all going to be voted out, the question was who'd go first, second and third. I felt that our alliance was severed since Sarah wasn't with us. I was going to get to know the people at Rotu as well as I could. With that the Rotu people saw my work ethic and really admired it and eventually the four of them came and asked me if I'd like to be their fifth person. To make a long story short, when it came time to vote someone off it was evident that Boston Rob was the first to go.
Since I was in the alliance with them I said I'd vote for Boston Rob. It wasn't based on not liking him, it was based on the alliance I'd made with those guys and wanted to stick on my word with that one.
Hunter_Is_Sexy: A lot of people said that they didn't begin to play the game until Day 24. When did you start playing the game?
Vecepia Towery: *laughs* Great question! I love it! The Maraamu people began playing the very first time we had to vote somebody off. I guess I began to play at that time.
seawater: How long before the final show did you and Neleh spend time together and talk about who you thought voted for each of you? Did you get much sleep the night before?
Vecepia Towery: Neleh and I actually talked quite often. Probably once or twice a week mainly in the last month prior to the ending of the show. We talked in detail about who'd vote for us based on that she had a great relationship with Paschal -- that relationship was sealed and she'd have that vote. Based on my relationship with Sean I had that vote as well. As far as anyone else we had absolutely no clue for the reason that we'd both left bad blood with the Rotu 4 who were the majority of the alliance. To answer the latter part of your question -- it was pretty nerve-wracking to sit there and wonder who was voting for you. I learned to try and occupy my time with other things i.e., working out a lot, staying off the web sites and keeping my mind off of it.
croc420: When you heard Tammy's brutal speech were you offended, or was that a 'turn the other cheek' moment?
Vecepia Towery: First of all I have to say that Tammy and I are great friends and the one thing I always try to tell people is to remember that this is a game and everything done in the game is in the moment. When I heard her comments, I knew she'd come hard. She's a strong girl who was disappointed she didn't win. She never made any derogatory comments about religion on the island and was open and willing while we were there. When she made those comments that she was going to go that angle because she knew religion was prevalent in my and Neleh's life. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion so it didn't bother me. I did nothing but respect her opinion and she came up after and said it was all in the context of the game and that's the way I took it.
