Cris has what outsiders may think is the perfect all-American family: a handsome husband and two beautiful blond children. But, underneath that façade, she's doing everything she can to keep her family together. Cris, 39 and a native of Oklahoma and Arizona, lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, and is an animal trainer for movies and television.
Cris' husband of 10 years, Matthew, recently got out of rehab for an addiction problem. Matthew is currently unemployed, leaving Cris to shoulder the family's financial burdens. Those stresses, plus the responsibilities of taking care of their two kids and their stable of dogs, cats and other exotic pets, would have had any other woman running for the door a long time ago.
But Cris loves her husband, thinks he is a good father and believes in him. She is devoted to making their marriage work. She's stuck by him through his addiction; however, she's let Matthew know that if he slips up one more time, it's over; as much as she loves him, there's only so much a person can take.
Cris hopes that Matthew will stay sober so their marriage can survive. She's hoping that the Tuesday Night Book Club can give her the outlet she needs to talk about her life, her kids, her pets and how to cope with her hectic life.
