Pay Up: Det. Angell sits with two other detectives in a diner across from the courthouse, protecting Connor Dunbrook, who is scheduled to testify against his father, Robert Dunbrook, when a Mac truck plows through the front, and gunmen shoot at them and kidnap Connor. Det. Angell is shot and rushed to the hospital, however, she dies on the operating table. As the CSI's investigate the crime scene, Mac believes Robert Dunbrook staged the kidnapping to prevent his son from testifying. Stella and Adam plant a transmitter and immediately Dunbrook's actions are suspicious. They trace him to a warehouse and learn that Dunbrook had nothing to do with the kidnappping, but he's there to deliver the ransom. When the kidnappers realize the police are there, they abort the exchange and disappear. From the evidence gleaned at the scene Mac learns the kidnapper are highly trained ex-militay mercenaries. Despite the botched rescue, Mac knows they really want the money and will undoubtedly call back. In the meantime, they evaluate the evidence and are able to locate the where they're holding Connor Dunbrook. They rescue him and take down the kidnappers. In the cliffhanger ending, the team is at a bar for a rememberance of Angell, a gunman comes in and shoots wildly, leaving us unsure if anyone was shot. ...
