Young Guns: Clark arrives at a crime scene in the projects to find a murdered Clifton Cartwright, an injured Michael Dupray, and a crowd of angry residents. Michael’s mother Kendra informs Clark and Owen of Clifton’s involvement with the projects’ gang leader Evander O’Dell and asserts her honor student son’s innocence. When they question Michael in the hospital, he admits he broke into Evander’s apartment and stole $10,000 and Clifton was at his apartment to get it back. Michael wanted to use the money to get his family out of the projects for good. Kendra’s corroborating of the story raises Clark and Owen’s suspicions. Fingerprints on the gun lead them to Bernadette Bell, a high school student who explains that she was forced to transport guns for Evander. Diaco goes to his alma mater, the victims’ high school, to learn that Clifton attempted to break into Michael’s locker and Diaco finds the $10,000 stashed there. By decoding Evander’s cryptic text messages the team realizes that the $10,000 was meant for a large weapons buy that was about to go down in a nearby warehouse. Arroyo gives the order to raid the warehouse despite not having a valid warrant, and Clark saves McKenzie from taking a bullet from Evander’s crony, Marcus. Clark and Owen get Marcus to refute Evander’s alibi and Clark speaks to Michael’s neighbor who mentions that she only heard the door slam once during the shooting. The shooter never left the apartment. Clark confronts Kendra about his findings and she confesses to shooting Clifton in self-defense with the bullet accidentally hitting Michael in the process. Torn between following the law and following his heart Clark decides to not arrest Kendra and lets Evander take the fall. Tensions rise when Arroyo threatens to go public with the wire tape exposing Clark giving a Natasha (prostitute turned C.I/#102) confiscated money. Owen secretly witnesses a subsequent exchange between Clark and Natasha and tries to give Clark advice about making the right choices. Clark discovers that Arroyo and McKenzie are romantically involved. ...
