FINALLY FIRST
Oswald and Eric took to the giant mailbags and began sorting through the stacks and stacks of letters. While Danielle pointed out that Eric was good at this because he had luck, Oswald found his envelope first. After reading the letter from brother and sister Blake & Paige, Oswald & Danny opened their clue instructing them to follow the marked trail around the island to the Pit Stop at Mastil de A.R.A. General Belgrano, an overlook situated on the southernmost tip of South America.
After hovering near the top for three legs, best friends Oswald & Danny finally stepped onto the mat in first place. The thrilled pair received even more good news from Phil when he informed them they had won a trip for two from Travelocity to the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui. Eric & Danielle settled for second place after reading letters from their former partners Jeremy and Dani while Teri & Ian, who received a letter from former winners Flo & Zach, came in third.
TAXI TRICKERY
When the second charter flight landed at 1:50pm, beauty queens Dustin & Kandice, life partners Joe & Bill, and married couple Uchenna & Joyce all exited the airport quickly leaving Charla & Mirna and Rob & Amber without taxis. After asking an attendant to call for one, Charla & Mirna watched as Rob & Amber jumped into the taxi meant for the cousins. As the cousins shouted that they called for the taxi, Rob replied, "You're crazy. We called too." Rob & Amber resorted to trickery once again at Playa Larga when they misdirected Charla & Mirna away from the cluebox. After wasting a few moments looking in a wooded area, the cousins realized that they had been duped. Mirna commented, "As an attorney I can tell when someone is lying to me."
A footrace at Bahia La Pataia resulted in Dustin & Kandice and Joe & Bill securing seats on a boat ahead of Uchenna & Joyce who now had to share a ride to Isla Redonda with Rob & Amber twenty minutes later. Arriving at the dock in last place, Charla & Mirna confronted Amber who played dumb about lying to the cousins about where to find the clue. Amber claimed she was talking to Rob, not the cousins at the Playa Larga and they misunderstood. Mirna remarked, "It was another lie and now we're the last Team on the last boat all alone. We're done."
As Charla & Mirna took to the water in their boat, partners Joe & Bill claimed fourth place after receiving a letter from Season 1 runner-up Frank while beauty queens Dustin & Kandice took fifth along with a note from former nemesis Lyn.
SHOWDOWN AT THE END OF THE WORLD
Joyce and Rob, unsuccessfully sorting through mail for their Teams, looked in shock at the water as cousins Charla & Mirna pulled up to the dock. Now with a chance at catching up, Mirna unloaded her large stack of letters. The tension rose even higher after Joyce found her letter, written by mother and son Susan & Patrick, allowing her and Uchenna to claim sixth place.
Trying to offer advice to her cousin, Charla spoke to Mirna in a language foreign to Rob. When Rob said Charla couldn't do that, Mirna fired back, "Shut the hell up. I said pray to our deceased grandmother to help us. You wouldn't have a clue what that means." Maybe their grandmother came through in the clutch, because Mirna found her letter before Rob and shouted, "Bye, bye baby! See you! Wouldn't want to be you!" For good measure, they addressed Amber as a "lying bitch."
After reading a scathing letter from brothers Marshall & Lance, the cousins began running to the Pit Stop in hopes of beating the newlyweds. Rob found his letter from Susan & Patrick soon after and the footrace to Phil was on. Charla had difficulties moving her small body across the rocky, hilly, terrain as Mirna yelled for her to run. As motivation, Mirna said, "Let's beat the liars. Let's bite karma in the ass." And that's exactly what they did as they stepped onto the mat in seventh place as Uchenna & Joyce cheered them on.
Stepping onto the mat in last place, newlyweds Rob & Amber, after winning three legs in a row, received the shocking, bad news that they had been eliminated from the race. On the experience, Amber commented, "This isn't the end. It might be the end of the race for us, but the fact that we got to come back and do it a second time is pretty spectacular. Just to spend this time with each other means the world to me." Rob added, "I think the thing I'm gonna miss most is not being able to compete, knowing that there's a game going on and I'm not in the game. At the end of it all, I still have an amazing wife, a great life, a great family. I'm a lucky guy. I'm already a winner." |
