CHARLA & MIRNA RISE TO THE TOP
One leg after bumping off heavyweights Rob & Amber, cousins Charla & Mirna continued their strong performance by soaring to victory as Teams traveled to Maputo, Mozambique. Meanwhile, Joe butted heads with Eric over an unwelcomed joke while a laborious coal task caused Uchenna & Joyce, now "marked for elimination", to finish in last place.
SNOW PATROL
Departing the Pit Stop in first place at 12:02am, best friends Oswald & Danny discovered they had to take a taxi to the base of Martial Mountain chain, ride a chair lift, and hike half a mile to Martial Glacier. Once there, they had to use an avalanche beacon to search the glacier for another beacon buried in the snow with their next clue.
At 8:00am the following morning, the chair lift to Martial Glacier began operation with life partners Joe & Bill at the front of the line in their matching embroidered winter wear. Taking the extra effort to be first paid off as the pair quickly used their beacon to locate the buried clue before most of the other Teams even reached the glacier. Opening it, Joe & Bill learned they would by flying over 7,000 miles to the southeast African city of Maputo, Mozambique. Teams needed to book tickets at a travel agency because travelers cannot book international flights at Ushuaia airport. Since departing flights from Ushuaia airport were limited, Teams were provided with tickets to Maputo scheduled to arrive at 3:00pm in case they could not find an earlier flight.
While beauty queens Dustin & Kandice made a huge mistake in forgetting to pick up their beacon before the long hike to the glacier putting them in last place, best friends Oswald & Danny struggled to locate one of the buried clues. When the signal indicated they were near a buried beacon, their beacon would suddenly pick up a new, different signal from somewhere else. The pair became testy with one another as Danny questioned Oswald's ability to use the beacon when they lost the signal altogether. Their situation worsened when Dustin & Kandice returned to the glacier with a beacon in hand and proceeded to find their clue putting Danny & Oswald in last place. After the pair finally located the buried beacon, they had a sense of humor about it, joking, "If you get caught in an avalanche, never come look for Danny & Oswald to get you out." In the end, the best friends' fumbling on the glacier did no harm as all Teams booked the same flight to Maputo.
JUST KIDDING
Landing in Maputo, Mozambique, Teams had to choose a marked car with a driver and travel 45 miles to the Apopo Training Field where they would find their next clue. On the ride to the training field, Eric decided to play a joke on Joe & Bill by having his driver pretend to pass the Guidos. This joke elicited the panicked response in the Guidos that Eric expected as the pair pleaded with their driver to speed up to avoid being passed. On the Guidos, Eric & Danielle commented, "We like making fun of the Guidos. They're just so annoying."
With the gate to the training field closed, Joe & Bill took a moment to confront their tormentor, Eric, warning him to watch his speed. When Eric explained that he was simply playing a joke on them, Joe snidely retorted, "You need to watch your jokes, guy." When Bill tried to make amends for Joe's outburst, Eric said, " You guys are just being freaks." Walking away from the situation, a stunned Bill said, "Peace, peace, peace", prompting Eric's retort of, "Freaks, freaks, freaks." Danielle noted, "The Guidos are bipolar. They're totally nuts." In their defense, Bill commented, "Joe and I are not going to allow negativity to come in our way. We're going to stay positive." |
