Episode 14: Master of Pirates
From Musician to Pirate Master: Ben Finds the Treasure
Before Christa, Jay and Ben embark on their final Expedition for Captain Steel's treasure, they learn that they must complete one more Expedition first. Ben wins the first Expedition, leaving Jay and Christa to defend themselves at Pirates' Court to a jury made up of the Ghost Pirates, those who had previously been cut adrift. After Jay receives the most ballots, all the Ghost Pirates rejoin the ship's crew as Christa and Ben prepare for the final Expedition.
At another Pirates' Court, it becomes clear that most of the Ghost Pirates prefer Christa to win, making Ben the underdog. Christa and Ben each pick three Ghost Pirates to help them on the hunt for treasure. After a grueling Expedition, it is Ben who finds the treasure's key and wins Captain Steel's fortune. Ben has become the Pirate Master.
"For the underdog to step up and take this whole game is just a lesson for everybody out there who's been doubted by people," Ben says after winning. "Use it as fuel and prove the world wrong. Step up and show them that the underdog ain't the underdog anymore."
The Final Three
As a reward for being the final three Pirates in the competition, Ben, Jay and Christa enjoy a small feast of bread, meat and cheese below deck. However, Jay starts to have second thoughts about cutting Louie adrift. "At Pirates' Court, I was in the sweetest position to cut [Ben] adrift," Jay explains. "And I'm hoping that wasn't the biggest mistake of my life."
