SURVIVOR Host: We're now joined by Buth Lockley. Hi Butch, and thanks for being here!
Butch: It's really great to be among SURVIVOR fans. I feel it's one of the best shows on TV because of all the variety of action, suspense, the drama. It offers anything that anybody could want, and it's just a great, great show!
johjoh: Butch, what response have you had from the pupils at your school?
Butch: It has been very positive. The school has totally embraced a SURVIVOR theme into their educational programs/curriculum.
rainbowz: Butch, what was your reasoning for voting for Matt? Were you surprised that all the other people on the jury voted for Jenna?
Butch: Yes, I thought Matt would have two or three votes and an outside chance to win. I voted for Matt for three reasons. First, the way he learned the game from knowing nothing about SURVIVOR to being in charge. Second, the way he worked and contributed to camp life. The third reason is that Jenna asked me to vote her out and I felt I could not vote somebody the Sole Survivor who asked to be voted out.
MissFilangi: Butch, whose boot was the most surprising to you?
Butch: Roger. I knew he was going to get booted soon, but I wasn't aware it was going to be that quick. I was unaware about how some of the girls felt about him. I knew that he was burning a lot of his bridges and rubbing a lot of people the wrong way with his comments and attitude.
Lara: Butch, you took a lot of grief over the fire deal. Are there any hard feelings remaining?
Butch: None. After viewing the tapes and finding out some information, we now know exactly what happened. It was not my fault, even though I'm the one that tossed the log on the fire, which resulted in sparks igniting the dried-out palms that were leaning over the fire. We all now have some fun with it, although it wasn't fun when we arrived back at camp with everything destroyed. I really feel bad for Jenna, who lost something that was irreplaceable.
Mommarabbit: Butch, did you take anything home with you from the jungle?
Butch: The only thing I was allowed to take home was the clothes that I had on my back, and those were the only clothes I had left after the fire.
MollyRose: Butch, which Survivor was the most difficult for you to live with?
Butch: None of the Survivors were the most difficult to live with. I enjoyed my time with each and every Survivor. All of them had exceptional personalities, and it was an enjoyment for me to compete with and against them.
BiliBang: Butch, do you think Alex is a bitter guy?
Butch: I have the utmost respect and admiration for Alex. He is a true friend of mine. Do I think Alex is bitter on being voted out as early as he was? I would say there was some bitterness there.
lookingforward: Did you admire Jenna for not taking Rob up on his offer at the last Immunity Challenge?
Butch: Yes, I did. It's just like the old song "I Did It My Way," and that's how she beat Rob. You could see where she was very comfortable (if comfortable is the right word standing on a 3" piece of wood), whereas Rob was having a lot of trouble maintaining his balance. I believe she noticed that Rob was having trouble maintaining his balance. I would have done the same thing that Jenna did. I would also like to add if I was in Rob's position I probably would have done the same thing that he did trying to make a deal with Jenna.
BigJohn: Would you say a lot of creative editing goes on before an episode airs, or do we see a fair summary of the three day's events?
Butch: That's a very good question. At the start of SURVIVOR we have sixteen people to fit into three days. I believe that on the show you only have 43 minutes of actual SURVIVOR time, so it's very hard to get equal time with all the contestants. On the other hand, when you're down to the Final Four, each contestant may receive a little more air time and a little more accuracy in portraying camp life.
fever: Did it make you mad that the cameraman just stood there and filmed while all of your stuff was burning?
Butch: Not really. We knew they couldn't interfere with any SURVIVOR happenings unless perhaps it was a life-or-death matter. I would hope that if we'd been dragged off or eaten by a cayman or alligator that someone would have come in and saved us!
AMAFAN: Butch, what are your thoughts on how the "evil stepsisters" treated Christy?
Butch: There was not a lot of love lost on both sides of that situation, but since the show's over, things are a lot better. Everyone's on good terms.
I_am_Rob: Butch, when Christy was voted out, you didn't vote for her. Was it risky not to vote with the majority?
Butch: Rob, Matt and I asked Christy to go with us to the Final Four. She wanted to do better and was considering an alliance with the other two girls. She did not make her mind up and would not inform Rob or Matt regarding the alliance with us three. I was involved in an interview before we left for Tribal Council, and that's when Rob and Matt made the deal with Heidi and Jenna regarding voting Christy out. To protect themselves, the girls asked Matt and Rob not to tell me about the agreement. Matt, Rob and I did discuss this option regarding Christy the day before as well as the day of Tribal Council.
Cspunky: Butch, how did the hand heal after the pirahna bite? Any real damage?
Butch: I have a lot of questions regarding the pirahna bite. The hand's fine, and I'll have a small quarter-inch scar for the rest of my life, but that's okay. At least I still have all my fingers. [laughs]
