SURVIVOR Host: There are lots of great questions, so let's get begin! If you're just joining us, we're chatting live with Survivor Daniel Lue. We'll get to as many of your questions as we can. Let's get started. Hey Daniel! How's it going?
Daniel: Hey, I'm doing great. I'm really glad to be here and I hope everyone enjoyed the last episode!

croc420: Did you know you were going to be voted off next? I hear that you spoke to Matt and told him it was okay to vote for you.
Daniel: Right, actually I talked to Alex right before going to Tribal Council, and then I found out that he was going to vote for me. So, I told Matthew to go ahead and vote for me, because I didn't want him to stand out from the rest of the team.

kiwee: Great job out there, Daniel. I couldn't help but notice Matthew looked shocked when you told Jeff that he could speak Chinese. Was he hoping to keep that a secret?
Daniel: No, it was actually never a secret, because we spoke Chinese in front of everybody else. We actually discussed strategy and talked about other people in front of everybody.

FireyRedTU: Hey Dan, do you think you may have revealed too much information about your relationship with Matthew at Tribal Council, so you set him up as the next target?
Daniel: It was no secret that me and Matthew were friends. Also, since we did speak Chinese in front of everybody, everybody knew that Matthew and I had an alliance together. Actually, it was no secret that Ryan, Matthew and I had an alliance to try and get Roger out.

candy: Daniel, how are you feeling? We heard that you had malaria. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Daniel: Yes, I'm actually feeling just fine now. I'm back 100%. About three weeks ago I had a really high temperature and I thought it was the flu and I thought it was just going to go away, but after about four or five days of it not getting better I went to the doctor. He told me it was the flu and he sent me home. I've had the flu before and I've never been sick like this before. So I did a blood test, and after I got the results back I was rushed to the emergency room. I was diagnosed with Plasmodium Vivaxx. You know, in this game one person goes home with a million dollars, and I'm the person that went home with malaria. Not exactly the consolation prize I was hoping for.

Dragon: Here in Finland everyone thinks that SURVIVOR has a script. Is it scripted?
Daniel: No way! What you see is actually probably ten times worse in real life, because it was so hot and intense out there, we couldn't find any food, we were starving. I actually lost 16 lbs and I was down to 4% body fat. If it were scripted, I'm sure they would have given us more things to eat than just manioc.

SFan: Dan, what was the real problem with you on the balance beam? Give us the honest answer please.
Daniel: [laughs] Okay, boy, I never saw THIS question coming! I'm still pulling splinters out of my ass. I know we're short on time, so let me just give you the five reasons why: 1) I thought I was on Jackass the movie, not SURVIVOR. 2) Right when I was about to make it to the end, Jeff Probst kept kicking the log. 3) I had to fight off the malaria-infecting mosquitoes at the same time...and lost. 4) I couldn't concentrate because Heidi kept flashing me. 5) I felt so bad about being cocky, I decided to let the girls win. Seriously, the girls were great competitors, and they played the game fair and square.

I think the whole situation and not having any food contributed to all that and really, just about all the guys had trouble on the balance beam. But I was the last to make it to the end, so I was blamed, and at Tribal Council I took the blame. But remember, we still had a chance to win in the end with the puzzle, but we didn't.

BEACH: Dan, did you or any of the guys figure out Christy was deaf?
Daniel: No, I never did. Even after our Reward Challenge last night when we all got to talk to one another, I still had no clue. But I give Christy a lot of credit for even going on SURVIVOR, because it's tough enough as is with all your senses. But to be deaf and be out there...that's just incredible.

Mommarabbit: Daniel, do you think mentioning the "race" subject at the Tribal Council hurt you?
Daniel: No, because I already knew that I was going to be voted out and really, that's what I had on my mind. I wasn't trying to say that anybody was being racist, but Jeff asked me how hard it was being different from anyone else. How does it affect you? I was just giving him an honest answer. Also, I wasn't really implying that the other guys were being racist against me. I was just saying that when you're in a group with eight guys, it's who you relate with, and if the situation was reversed with seven Asian guys and one white guy, I guarantee you that one white guy will feel a bit left out.

LdyLesa: Daniel, what have you seen on TV that shocks you the most about the other contestants?
Daniel: I was surprised to see the girls bathe topless! I feel very ripped off, because back at Tambaqui instead of having three good-looking girls topless, we had Butch walking around in his Speedo!

FireyRedTU: What was your reaction to this new twist of the game with the tribes being separated by gender?
Daniel: Actually, I was pretty excited at first, because it's never been done on SURVIVOR before and I knew I was part of something special. When we were back at camp, we had so much strength and energy that we cleared a big part of the jungle and put up our shelter in twelve hours. But then at night when we were all sleeping very close to each other, I realized, hey, I'd much rather sleep next to Jenna than Roger!

SurfSlade: Now that you watched some show do you still think Shawna is the cutest, and are you still interested in her?
Daniel: Shawna's definitely cute, but since I'm back in the U.S. now, there are plenty of other cute girls in Texas, so I'm not going to hold my breath for Shawna. But hey, anything can happen.

stayathomemom: According to Ryan, Roger called him a punk the first night. Did Roger say anything to you like that?
Daniel: Roger never said anything like that to me. It looked like from last night's show that he really wanted to, but I guess he never had the guts to. Because the first night he definitely called Ryan basically a punk. Since I was friends with Ryan, he naturally did not like me either. But if it came down to it, I wouldn't mind if he came up, tried to slap me around as he said he wanted to, because I wouldn't back down from him. And if he wanted to wrestle to the ground, I would have pinned him down one, two, three. [laughs]

croc420: Hey, Daniel. Was there any conflict between you and Roger that was not shown? Seems there is more to this story than we saw. Or is Roger really just that stubborn?
Daniel: Roger actually really doesn't like many people, and the funny thing is Roger chose to sleep next to me in the shelter. During our blindfold Challenge in episode 2 he grabbed my hand to be my partner for that Challenge, so maybe subconsciously Roger really liked me. After protesting a little bit too much about his dislike for gay people, perhaps Roger is a little bit uncertain about his own sexuality. [laughs]

MaryLou: Do you think that it is possible that the producers planted that granola bar in the girl's camp to cause controversy?
Daniel: Well, anything is possible, but I think there was enough drama over in the girls' camp that production didn't need to plant a granola bar to cause any more. But if somebody else really did sneak it in, they should have eaten it as soon as possible. At the same time, I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to risk disqualification just for a granola bar. After all, a granola bar isn't worth a million dollars.

serf_rat: Hello Dan, do you think you contributed as much as everyone else, or could you have done more?
Daniel: Well, the thing of it is that there were so many leaders out there that everybody wanted to do as much as they could just to kind of prove themselves as the more dominant guy. I knew that that could be a possible source of conflict, so I decided to be more of a follower, and that was probably my mistake, because someone like Roger took that lack of aggression as laziness. But I did everything I could to help out in the tribe. Looking back, maybe I could have tried to do more, but in that situation it was really more about politics than anything else. So even if I'd done more, I would have been the next person to go after Ryan.
