SURVIVOR Host: There are lots of great questions, so let's get begin! If you're just joining us, we're chatting live with Survivor Dave Johnson. We'll get to as many of your questions as we can. Hey Dave! How's it going?
Dave: Great! How's everybody doing?

DizzyMe: Hey Dave--I know that you knew that there was a pretty good chance that you were going to get voted off last night, but what's up with everyone voting for you--even Butch?
Dave: Yeah, I definitely knew that my name was coming up. I thought that it might have been a strategic decision from Butch and Heidi to vote with the majority. I think they realized that any vote that they cast wouldn't have made any difference.

GinaFan: Dave--good job. There seems to be a little hint of a "special" attraction between Jenna and Heidi. Did you sense anything like that?
Dave: [laughs] I think Jenna and Heidi are great friends, and if there's any "special attraction" I'm sure I and the rest of the viewing population would love to see it.

DanieuBleau: Hi Dave, did you do a lot of "peeping-tomming" when the gals bathed?
Dave: [laughs] No, everyone goes off and does their own thing, and that was their time to go off and do their own thing. I had my fair share back in the bungalow date.

DianaD: Dave, Anything you can report about what happened under the covers with Jenna?
Dave: Why don't we say that what happened in the Amazon stay there. She's a great person and a fun girl to hang out with, and it was an amazing experience.

MamaCat: Dave, were you aware that Rob was insanely jealous of you?
Dave: No! I don't think Rob gives himself enough credit. He's got great looks, he's intelligent, he's funny. I don't think there's any reason for him to show any dislike and jealousy to Dave Johnson.

CanadianDan: What was going on with you and Heidi? It seems that you were very close at night curled up together, and holding hands!
Dave: Heidi and I are great friends and she was a great ally. Certainly in the jungle sleeping on people is far more comfortable than sleeping on logs. It was a platonic relationship and something friends do to try best to survive.

harmony: Did Heidi tell you that you were going to be voted off?
Dave: No, she never told me I was going to be voted off. She said I had a 50/50 chance and that I was going to be receiving votes, and just hope for the best.

DanieuBleau: Hi Dave, what was behind your decisions in picking who you did for the switch?
Dave: I initially chose Heidi because I wanted to break up the alliance with Jenna, and I also thought that since we were closer to the same age she'd be a good ally to have in the game. I picked Butch and Roger instead of Rob or Matt because I trusted both of them and I didn't want somebody I couldn't trust on my team. Christy and Jeanne were the two strongest females remaining and I wanted to make my tribe as strong as possible to win Immunity Challenges.

kidney: If you can do it over, would you pick the female members of your tribe differently?
Dave: No, with the information that I knew at that time, I think I picked the tribe the best way I knew possible. It's unfortunate that I didn't get farther in the game, but I don't think it would have made much of a difference. I think Rob was out to get me as soon as he could, and nothing would have changed that.

eggplantwpurplehead: Yo Dave--Did you realize how pissed your tribemates were that you and Deena came back and wanted to eat right away? That was great!
Dave: [laughs] No, we tried to downplay it as much as possible; obviously it wasn't enough. I think as anybody would have, everybody wanted some of the ice cream and unfortunately there was only room for two.

Paradice: Dave, when you won that last Challenge and got to eat all that dessert with Deena, did you both end up getting sick after not eating much?
Dave: No, we felt a little ill after eating all the ice cream at the location. However, we were soon to recover and ready to eat more!

stoney: Am I crazy, or is their version of a banana split just a banana in a bowl?
Dave: You're right! There was a bowl of ice cream on the side, but it certainly wasn't the type of banana split that we'd envisioned. But it was the best dang thing we'd eaten in a dang long time!

LovinDave: Dave, you are hot! Will we be seeing you in Playgirl anytime soon?
Dave: I tend to keep those things on a more personal and intimate basis with people instead of in a larger, more public arena.

souzou: Dave, what did you think about Matt's possible loss of sanity?
Dave: Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness."

leahsmom: Dave, you rawk! Down under, we have a saying about "less is more." Do you feel that you showed too much strength and you should have held back?
Dave: It was important to me to be myself. Part of that is to try my hardest at everything I do. While it might have helped me to hold back, I have no regrets and I would've played the game the same way.

SURVIVORScientist: Dave, last week in the live chat with Roger, he spoke very fondly of you. How do you feel about him?
Dave: I think Roger is an intelligent, opinionated man. I value his arguments and I think he was one to be trusted and a great ally. I think those are qualities that are far better than those displayed by other people in this game.

westcoast: Dave, You are THE HOTTEST contestant so far of all the SURVIVOR shows! Tell me, does being a rocket scientist help you get chicks? (BTW: it would work on me!)
Dave: Thank you very much! I'm speechless! If you're a girl, come to Southern California.

buzz: Dave, what is your worst fear?
Dave: Good question. Having the small, catfish-like Amazon parasite swim up my johnson and lodge itself with its spike.

Indy: Dave, you were the best player out there; it's too bad the others felt threatened by you. I hated to see you voted off. Do you feel they were jealous because you won both Reward Challenges that involved showering/bathing and yummy food?
Dave: I think a lot of the game revolves around luck. It just so happened I got lucky on a couple different occasions. I had a great time playing, and if it was held against me, it's unfortunate. I had a good time when I was out there.

Richard: Hey Dave, what part of being in the Amazon did you underestimate the most?
Dave: I think I underestimated the interpersonal relationships and the conniving and deception that Rob was doing behind everybody's back. While physically challenging, I think what hurt me most in the end was being outside the social loop.

pain_n_the_back: Dave, do you think Jenna's attitude toward you and Deena after you all came back--including her calling Deena a "fat pig"--was uncalled for?
Dave: I think, like everybody out there, Jenna was a little upset that she didn't get a chance to eat the banana split. She had been craving ice cream, and I think it touched a nerve that other people didn't have.

GinaFan: Dave, who was the most irritating survivor in the Amazon?
Dave: When you live with the same people 24/7 everybody has their moments which piss you off at certain points. It's more a function of where and when than who did it the most.

leahsmom: Dave, as my favorite eye candy, I must say that I will miss you. Now, let's talk. Two words: bath time. Wow, was the cameraman there the whole time?
What didn't we see as far as talk between you and Deena?
Dave: The cameraman was there at all times throughout the bath. I was nervous knowing that Deena's husband is a SWAT cop, and I was always afraid that if I said or did something wrong he'd come and break down my door when the show was over! As for the talks, Deena and I really had a great time with lots of laughter and plenty of jokes. I'm sorry I still can't be out there to spend more time with her out in the Amazon.

DaveKicks: Was Matthew really that creepy?
Dave: I think Matthew's priorities were a little bit different than everybody else's. Things like a razor-sharp machete seemed to matter more to him, where jokes and comedy and laughter among friends seemed more important for other people.

tong_po: Dave, do you regret your little speech after the first Immunity Challenge?
Dave: Not at all. I saw trends developing in the tribe depicting us a chauvinistic and male-oriented. I thought what was more important was the fact that we had two separate tribes (apart from gender), and I didn't want to be associated with people who didn't treat them as worthy adversaries.

Amelia: Dave, did you think last night's food Challenge was lame?
Dave: I think it was a great Challenge. It was fun, and I was also pleased with the final outcome! I was a little upset with the Immunity Challenge, however. I was hoping it would be something that would allow me to win and stick around for another couple of days.

Adqueen: Dave, when Roger got voted off, did your group of guys know right away that it was Rob who changed sides?
Dave: I think it was more than just Rob that had changed sides. At that point we knew the old alliances of Tambaqui were gone and a new game plan needed to be formulated very quickly.

nozama: Dave, did you and Christy connect at all?
Are you surprised she is so popular with viewers?
Dave: Christy and I had a great bonding experience once of my last nights. We shared a fire-watching duty, and I had the opportunity to engage in some great discussion and to go swing dancing with her by the firelight.

CanadianDan: Did you find it funny that Jenna's spilling the beans about the Jaburu tribe?
Dave: No, I thought it interesting that she was revealing a little too much information so early. However, we both wanted to make the most out of that experience and had a great time learning about each other and talking to a different person from a different tribe.

SURVIVORScientist: Dave, do you think Deena was insincere when she said she would seek support to not vote you out?
Dave: I think at the time Deena was being sincere; however, at that point in the game, what's most important is individual strategy, and I think she saw it best to stick with majority and vote me out.

AMAZenON: What kind of woman do you go for?
Sticks and Twigs?
Or something with a little more substance?
Dave: A charming personality, a great smile, spontaneity and an ever-present sense of adventure and excitement.

bob: Other than the obvious--Rob's comments--did you see anything while watching the show that really shocked you?
Dave: I think you're always surprised about who is saying what behind your back. Certainly I was aware of things like a shift from the old alliance to the new, but exactly how and when that happened is always a surprise.

Guinevere: Did the huge differences in your education and everyone else's make a difference in your communications with them?
Dave: I don't think I'm any more intelligent than anybody else out there. I'm a hard worker, and always try my best and make the most out of every situation. Unfortunately, that mentality only got me so far in the game.
