SURVIVOR Host: There are lots of great questions, so let's get begin! If you're just joining us, we're chatting live with Survivor Roger Sexton. We'll get to as many of your questions as we can. Let's get started. Hey Roger! How's it going?
Roger: It's going good!

LilDarlin: Yo Roger--Sorry to see you go. Even though I thought you were a bit bossy, I thought you were a good guy. How did you not see that vote coming, and how hard did you kick yourself in the butt for throwing in the towel during the Challenge?
Roger: I clearly didn't see it coming, because when we merged, Alex, Rob and Matt all confirmed that the six guys were back together, solid. And we were going to vote as a block of six, as we discussed before we split. We were going to vote off Christy first, followed by Deena, followed by Heidi, followed by Jenna. That was our original game plan. Also, before we went to the Immunity Challenge, I indicated to Alex that I thought the four women were going to vote for me. He said, "No, I don't think so. I think you're safe." So at no time did Alex give me the courtesy of telling me what the situation was and therefore, as you see on the show, I am extremely confident that I'm going to be safe.

DTCutting: Roger, what was it like to have Rob get Casey Kasem to dedicate a song to you?
Roger: [laughs] That was typical Rob. Actually, it's kinda cool.

rattler: Roger, it seemed like the platform you were on was a little bit unstable. Were they all that way, or did you just unluckily draw a bad one?
Roger: They were all the same, and that instability was not the platform--that was me!

rattler: Roger, was the difficulty of the experience a surprise to you or not?
Roger: No, it really wasn't a surprise, except the big surprise, which was the fact that it was in the Amazon. The Amazon is for real, and that's a very tough environment.

Macapa: Didn't you realize how you were getting on everyone's nerves being so "bossy"? You discounted everyone else's opinions.
Roger: That's an interesting question. As far as getting on everyone's nerves...I didn't think I was getting on Butch's nerves, Alex's nerves and Dave's nerves; also, to some degree, Rob, and even Matt. If you noticed last night on the show, I never heard anything from Matt in that regard, and I don't think I was getting on his nerves. As far as the women, Deena and I had a confrontation when we merged about how to boil water, and she felt there was a need for two fires, and she was totally wrong. Then there's Heidi, which the show didn't show the interaction that we had when she was part of Tambaqui. If it had, it would've clearly indicated why she was not well liked or perceived by the remaining members of Tambaqui, and I was very vocal with her about my displeasure. Therefore, when we merged she immediately went to Jenna and said the old man has got to go. The only thing she didn't say was that he's gotta go because he's onto me.

heyRoger: Roger, why did you vote for Christy (the best) and not Deena (whom you hated)?
Roger: We voted for Christy because it was the order that we'd arrived at; also, Deena won Immunity.

tammtt: Roger, do you feel that you were accurately portrayed on your views of women?
Roger: I most definitely was not accurately portrayed on my views on women. I am not a chauvinist, and in fact, prefer the company of women over men, but there are just certain things that men do better than women and certain things women do better than men. The show set up the battle of the sexes and I took that literally. As I said very early on in the show:
if we lose to the women we're going to get ragged on big time, and my goal was for one of the members of our tribe to come out on top.

katfox: What did you really think of Deena? Bossy or strong?
Roger: First of all, I wasn't with Deena very long. but my impression of her was that she was just all talk and no action.

ptcruisn56: Before you opened the mystery box, besides the merge, what did you think would be in it?
Roger: From day one, we didn't even speculate, because it was impossible to guess what would be in that box. We just left it where it was, and they'd indicated that we'd get the key when we least expected it, and we let it go at that.

zyzzyg: Roger, do you regret what you said about Daniel? Have you/will you apologize?
Roger: I don't know what you're talking about, but what I said to Daniel I don't regret, because I said he was out of his element and didn't contribute to the tribe. I definitely don't regret saying that, and never would. No apologies needed to be made; that in fact was the case.

DTCutting: Roger, what did you think about the women stripping for food? Would you have removed your clothes for food if you were given that option?
Roger: I thought the women stripping for the food was very demeaning and no, I would not strip for food.

sk023: Roger, what did you think of the tribe's drinking all the beer when you were asleep? Is that why you started banging on the wood so early?
Roger: [laughs] First of all, the tribe wasn't drinking all the beer while I was asleep: that was a bit of editing. I was drinking beer as well, and listening to their conversation, and Butch and I were just amazed at where their conversation was going. Butch and I were sitting just off to the side, watching and observing and shocked by the conversation between the girls and the boys, shall we say. To this day, I do not have that kind of conversation in front of women. Nor do I use foul language in front of women, and they were doing both. What they showed me in the morning was what I always did. I always made sure the fire was going, the water was boiling. It was very important. I didn't care if people were sleeping or not. It had to be done, I'm up, might as well do it.

BlueEyes: Were you surprised that you are a snorer, or did you already know?
Roger: Oh, I knew I was a snorer. I told everybody, and they all reminded me that yes, I am a snorer! I knew that going in. I wasn't the only snorer. In fact, our first night with the women, Deena was sawing the wood! Very loudly.

weebee: When you had the gay conversation with Alex, how much do you think that affected the way you were perceived?
Roger: The gay conversation with Alex was presented somewhat out of context, because I simply said, "Gays flaunting it in public is something I don't appreciate." As far as the perception with the other players, I don't think there was anything different, because I think most of them agreed with me, including Alex, in spite of what he said!

jenrar: How does it feel to have been a part of the biggest reality show in TV history?
Roger: Great!

surviiivor1: Did you really think the girls would just roll over and let the guys pick them off one by one?
Roger: I felt very strongly that they had no choice in the matter. If we were truly six guys, as I thought we were, they could try anything they wanted, but it shouldn't have worked.

Realwife: Roger, do you feel that the others were ungrateful for the shelters you built?
Roger: No, I don't feel that they were ungrateful. First of all, I didn't build those shelters: we did. "We" is everybody, including the slackers, even though they didn't contribute as much as everybody else. What I did was direct what needed to be done, and mostly everybody else did their fair share. And since the men were much more adept at building a shelter, when we merged it was a natural role for us to complete as soon as possible for the new tribe.

TooCool4Words: If you had to pick a girl to align yourself with, who would it be?
Roger: Christy, because she contributed the most, she was the hardest worker. I will say prior to that, even though we voted Jeanne off--that was one of the mistakes in the show--I should've approached Jeanne and Christy and voted Heidi off instead of Jeanne. For the same reason, Jeanne and Christy, of the women that I met, were definitely contributors and players, and appeared to have (at least Jeanne did, and I think Christy as well, in spite of the way she voted) integrity, and still played the game.

rattler: Roger, you spent a lot of time working around camp, did you have time to do anything fun? If so, what was your favorite activity to pass the time?
Roger: We had very little time to have fun. The most fun I had was in the evenings, when it was Tambaqui tribe, because these guys were very funny. Rob, Alex and Dave put together haikus and limericks that were actually very, very humorous. To listen to all that was fun! It was something different for me.

Roger_is_tops: What did you think of Rob's private interviews? Was that the same Rob you knew in the game?
Roger: Rob definitely was not the same in the interviews as the way he presented himself to me, but Rob clearly played the game, and Rob was a student of this game. In fact, I found out that it was basically his life, which is fairly pathetic. That being said, I think most of what he said, especially the individual interviews, was strictly for the camera, and strictly for airtime.

Mywave: Roger, what did Heidi do to tick you off?
Roger: The bottom line with Heidi is that she truly was not what she presented herself to be, and let me just say clearly, that she in no way is a role model.

Richard: Why dog tags as your luxury item?
Roger: The choice of dog tags, it's not just dog tags, and that's lost in the translation. Attached to my dog tags is a St. Christopher medal that was given to me by my aunt, who's still alive in her mid-80s, and a St. Jude that was given to me by my grandma. The dog tags with those two medals attached is what I wore in Vietnam, and when I came home, I put them away, and I hadn't put them on until SURVIVOR. It's a sentimental item more than anything. It got me through Vietnam, and it could help me through SURVIVOR (even though I'm not a very religious person). After I got voted off, I took the dog tags and medals off, and they are now back where I had them before.
