IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: QUEST FOR FIRE

As the tribes converged for the first Immunity Challenge, of SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS, the castaways got the first glimpse of their competitors. All were surprised to see three tribes instead of the standard two.

With a nod to history, host Jeff Probst explained that this Challenge was the same as the first-ever SURVIVOR Challenge from Borneo. The castaways would start on floating platforms, where they would have to dive down and release their raft from a mooring on the bottom of the ocean floor. They would then have to transport fire torches on their raft to the beach, lighting torches along the way. The first two tribes to light the torches, bring their rafts to the beach and climb under a bamboo crawl would win Immunity.

The Challenge started off with a bang as Richard Hatch, the 42-year-old winner of SURVIVOR: BORNEO from Middletown, Rhode Island, disrobed in order to do the Challenge naked. Chapera took an early lead.

Rupert caused his tribe to fall behind when he mistakenly dove to release the raft that was already free. Chapera and Mogo Mogo were neck and neck, while Saboga trailed both.

Fatigue set in as Saboga closed the gap. But it was too little, too late as both Chapera and Mogo Mogo made it underneath their crawl, thus securing the first Immunity of SURVIVOR: ALL-STARS. Saboga was sent back to camp with the unpleasant task of having to vote a member out.
