WARNING: Spoilers from Star Trek: Discovery follow...

Fun Fact #1
The Klingon death howl alerts the afterlife (Sto-vo-kor) that a Klingon warrior is on the way. Until T'Kuvma brought back Kahless' teachings, Klingons did not think the bodies of the dead had meaning once their spirit had left. (From After Trek, Episode 1)

Find out who the Klingons are honoring in Episode 1, "A Vulcan Hello."

Fun Fact #2
Actor Chris Obi ("T'Kuvma") was so excited to have fight scenes with martial arts pro Michelle Yeoh ("Captain Georgiou") that he kept yelling "I KICKED MICHELLE YEOH'S ASS!" on set. (From After Trek, Episode 1)

Watch T'Kuvma and Georgiou go toe-to-toe in Episode 2, "Battle at the Binary Stars."

Fun Fact #3
The U.S.S. Discovery shuttle bay is a completely virtual set. The actors are actually standing in a big, empty green room! (From After Trek, Episode 2)

See the shuttle bay in Episode 3, "Context is for Kings."

Fun Fact #4
Lieutenant Stamets (Anthony Rapp) was named after real-life mycologist Paul Stamets, who was inspired by his brother's trip to Mexico in pursuit of "magic mushrooms." (From After Trek, Episode 2)

Meet Star Trek: Discovery's Paul Stamets in Episode 3, "Context is for Kings."

Fun Fact #5
On the wall of the U.S.S. Discovery mess hall are memorials for lost ships from the Battle of the Binary Stars, including the Europa and the Shenzhou. (From After Trek, Episode 2)

See how many starships you can spot in Episode 3, "Context is for Kings."

Fun Fact #6
"The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry" is the second-longest episode title in Star Trek history. The longest one? The original series' "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky." (From After Trek, Episode 3)

Stream all of "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry" now.

Fun Fact #7
The most decorated captains list requested by First Officer Saru (Doug Jones) included Jonathan Archer from Star Trek: Enterprise, Matt Decker from the original Star Trek ("The Doomsday Machine"), and Robert April. (From After Trek, Episode 4)

See how Saru fares as acting captain in Episode 5, "Choose Your Pain."

Fun Fact #8
Harry Mudd's (Rainn Wilson) insect buddy, originally named Bugsy in early scripts, was renamed Stuart after The Big Bang Theory's Stuart Bloom. (From After Trek, Episode 4)

See Stuart in action in Episode 5, "Choose Your Pain."

Fun Fact #9
The "random communications officer-man" that Mudd threatens on the bridge in "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" is Lt. Junior Grade R.A. Bryce, played by Ronnie Rowe. (From After Trek, Episode 6)

Does Mudd's plan succeed? Find out in Episode 7, "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad."

Fun Fact #10
Kelpiens can run up to 80 kilometers per hour, sense predators 10 kilometers away, and have more acute visual, auditory, and tactile receptors than humans. (From After Trek, Episode 7)

Learn more about Saru's capabilities in Episode 8, "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum."

Fun Fact #11
When deciding how many jumps Stamets should make, the writers originally chose 525,600—a nod to the song "Seasons of Love" in the musical Rent, which starred Anthony Rapp. When that number seemed too crazy, they settled on 133 as an homage to the 2004 Battlestar Galactica pilot, "33," written by Trek vet Ronald D. Moore. (From After Trek, Episode 8)

Find out if Stamets makes all 133 jumps in Episode 9, "Into the Forest I Go."

Fun Fact #12
Kenneth Mitchell ("Kol") liked to stay in character on set. Between takes he would wander around and stare at the ground, barely making eye contact with the "puny humans" around him. (From After Trek, Episode 8)

Behold Kol's menacing presence in Episode 9, "Into the Forest I Go."
