Biography
Johnny Ray Gill (Gustav Triplett in BRAINDEAD) Johnny Ray Gill has portrayed some of the most powerful and diverse characters on television. Currently, Gill also stars in “Underground,” executive produced by Grammy Award-winning musician John Legend and Academy Award-winning producer Akiva Goldsman. Gill is perhaps best known for his critically acclaimed role as ‘Kerwin’ in the Peabody Award-winning television drama “Rectify.” Other television credits include “Harry’s Law,” “True Blood,” “Bones” and the television movie “Shadow of Fear.” Gill executive produced, directed, wrote and starred in the short film “Pas de Restes,” one of the Top 10 most popular shorts on SundanceTV.com. The film screened at the BlackStar International Film Festival, among others, and won Best Narrative Short at both the Portland and Green Lens Environmental Film Festivals. “My Turtle’s Name Is Dudley,” also produced, directed and written by Gill, won the grand prize for Best Narrative Drama (Short Form) at the Hayden Films International Online Film Festival. His short film “Strange Fruit Hanging,” a tribute to the victims of police brutality, played during the “Hands Up Don’t Shoot” exhibition in Ferguson, Missouri after the Mike Brown hooting in 2014. Also, Gill co-wrote, directed and produced “The Purge: The Morning After.” He has lent his voice to various projects and recently was heard as Hog Rider, the rugged, bare-chested, Mohawk-haired man (riding a large hog) in the mobile game Clash of Clans.
