Biography
Melissa Claire Egan joined the cast of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as Chelsea Lawson in November 2011 and played the role until February 2018. She made a much-anticipated return to the show in June 2019.

Prior to returning to Y&R, she filmed a starring role in the Hallmark movie, HOLIDAY FOR HEROES that first aired in November 2019.

Originally from Bedford, New York, Melissa grew up with an extensive background in musical theatre, singing and dancing, taking a multitude of classes in New York City as a child. While still a child, she began booking national television commercials and was signed by the Ford Modeling Agency.

Melissa graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Dramatic Arts. During college she appeared in many plays including “Marvin's Room,” “How I Learned to Drive,” “The Birthday Party,” and “Pippin.” She also studied Shakespeare at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford, England.

Upon graduating college, Melissa began acting professionally. She played the role of Annie McDermott on "All My Children” from June 2006, through February 2011. Her television credits include “Bones,” “Men at Work,” “Criminal Minds,” "One Tree Hill," and "Dawson's Creek." She also starred in the independent films "Wrestling,” and “The Marriage Counselor” and was in a 2006 Super Bowl commercial for Taco Bell.

Melissa has been nominated for seven Daytime Emmy Awards for her work on both “The Young and the Restless” and “All My Children”.

For several years, she served as a celebrity spokesperson for the skin care product Proactiv Solution.

Her hobbies include seeing plays and musicals, dancing, writing, playing tennis, swimming, yoga, going to sporting events, road trips, happy hour with friends, and hanging out with her husband, kids, dog, and family. She also sings in a band called “Canal Street”.

Melissa works with various charities. One in particular that she is passionate about is Dharma Rescue, which rescues dogs with disabilities, raises money to get them personalized wheelchairs, and gives them purpose by rehabilitating and training them to be therapy dogs.

She and her husband, Matt Katrosar, CEO of HC2 Broadcasting, live in the Los Angeles area with their sons, Caden and Jake and their beloved family dog, Sophia.
